Steven N. Monroe Chaska Eye Care

Dr. Norman A. Monroe (retired) established Chaska Eye Care in 1958. His was the first clinic to provide corneal contact lenses to the Scott-Carver area. He took on a number of associates over the years, teaching them the fundamentals of private professional practice which enabled them to open their own clinics. In 1965 he opened a satellite clinic in Shakopee. For the next 25 years, Dr. Monroe and his wife, Karoline, ran the operation of the two clinics: introducing area residents to the latest styles of glasses, contact lenses and technical innovations of optometric examination. In 1990 their son, Steven joined the practice.

Dr. Steven N. Monroe attended Chaska public schools, St. Olaf College and is a graduate Magna cum Laude of the Illinois College of Optometry. He is a career-long member of the American Optometric Association, as well as the Minnesota Optometric Association and has served on its Education Committee. In 1996 he attained fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry; an honor few optometrists achieve. Over the years, Dr. Monroe has been involved with and/or supported many of our local community and charitable organizations, including Lions Club, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, 4H Club ,100 Club, Chaska Valley Family Theater, VFW and American Legion. He has volunteered for many vision screenings and health fairs, including the Indian Health Service. He is an ongoing sponsor of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and in 2009, became a major sponsor for the Minnesota Lupus Foundation.
